Tyler Summitt is now in his second year of coaching at Marquette University under head coach Terri Mitchell. As an assistant coach, he oversees the team’s offense, is in charge of skill development for every position, performs all recruiting duties and is the scouting coordinator. Tyler is also a co-founder and board member of The Pat Summitt Foundation, participates in public speaking engagements and is active in church with his wife.
Summitt graduated from the University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Honors Program where he was a member of the Tennessee men’s basketball team for two seasons, gaining experience from Cuonzo Martin and Bruce Pearl. Tyler was a student assistant coach for the Tennessee Women’s Basketball Program which is known worldwide for the coaching success of his mother, Pat Summitt. Tyler was assigned various duties for the Lady Vols, including helping in practices, film review and taking game statistics on the bench. He knows the feeling of victory as he was actively involved in the 2007 through 2009 seasons that resulted in two Lady Vols NCAA National Championships. You could say Tyler Summitt was born with and has continued the tradition of coaching that his mother Pat Summitt instilled in him. He has been the head coach of numerous AAU teams in Tennessee, including the Tennessee Fury 17U who won the State Championship. He has also been a head coach at the Pat Summitt, Cuonzo Martin and Bruce Pearl Summer Camps from 2005–2011.
Tyler married his high school sweetheart, Anne Dennis (“AnDe”) Ragsdale Summitt, on June 1, 2013. They are now residing in Milwaukee, where AnDe is pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Marquette University.
